I am a big Trek fan. The fact that I love astronomy, makes Star Trek almost a vague dream come true for me in many ways. From the very early days of Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek when James T. Kirk used to be my hero, Star Trek got me interested in Stars and Galaxies and from that time on my love for Astronomy and Star Trek just grew on over time.
Frankly, my expectation was not very high from this new Star Trek movie. I was not quite sure if its going to be anything like the Star Trek I used to watch in the old days of Kirk and Picard. My low expectation basically came from the movie trailer, which sort of represented a very i-Robot’ish kind of futuristic look for the movie, especially the flying bike and the cop sort of completely misrepresented the movie and secondly the new director J. J. Abrams, who admittedly was not a big fan of Star Trek, kind of made me wonder which direction is he going to take this now?
But with all assumptions kept aside, I am very glad to say that this new Star Trek movie was simply amazing!! Continue reading

My 98 Dodge Caravan, recently I had to take it’s battery out for some maintenance and after putting the battery back in when I started the car, weirdly enough, all my dashboards lights started flashing (the lights on the wiper and climate control buttons).
It resembles a lot to the new Macbook though, doesn’t it? So, it’s not a very new concept as far as the design is concern but it’s good that we will now have a very stylish and elegant looking Laptop added to the “PC” family too.
Given, the specs are as comprehensive as it’s look, I would surely be very interested to get my hands on to one of these Adamo’s.

After using IIS for almost 4 years now, I have decided to give up on IIS for so many of its limitations.
Among one of those limitations was the inability to use “pretty permalink” or the mod-rewrite feature which comes built in with Apache. Although IIS 7 seems to have a plan to include similar sort of functionality but waiting for that to come and who knows how many more problems along with it, is just not worth waiting for. Its just more easier to get Apache running on your machine and get everything that IIS gives and much more. Continue reading
I have been busy working on Neural Network Projects. It’s quite fascinating how computer is getting closer by the day to almost replicate a model of how a human brain functions.
I will probably write up an article on this soon but for those who are curious about neural networks, here are two lectures from a Professor in India. This gives a basic illustration of the concept behind Artificial Intelligence/AI.
Today after starting XP with the “Last Known Good Configuration” option I lost the network connectivity on my Desktop. Although Internet was working fine but “Microsoft Windows Network” would not list my network computers and when I tried the Network Connection repair option, the error message I kept getting was “Windows could not finish repairing the problem because following action cannot be completed: Clearing NetBT”.
So the logical approach was to first find a method to clear NetBT and after following these steps below, I was able to clear NetBT and get my network connectivity back in XP. Continue reading
